Entrepreneurship is the process of creating, launching, developing and managing a new business venture to generate profit and add value to the market. It involves identifying an unmet need, a market opportunity, or a problem to be solved, then taking calculated risks through innovative thinking, strategic planning, and implementing the idea or business model. Successful entrepreneurship requires unique skills, including creativity, flexibility, adaptability, determination, and visionary thinking

Healthcare entrepreneurship is the process of creating and developing innovative healthcare products, services, or solutions, with the ultimate goal of improving patient care and outcomes while also making a profit.

Based on our research and surveys of healthcare workers, the Scientific Committee identified gaps and shortcomings in knowledge about innovation and entrepreneurship in the healthcare sector. We found:

  1. Lack of experience of healthcare staff regarding the types, tools and business model design of healthcare entrepreneurship
  2. Insufficient resources to overcome the lack of development of leadership, communication, motivation and decision-making skills for healthcare entrepreneurship.
  3. Lack of information about the digital challenges, chaos, and shortcomings facing entrepreneurs
  4. Ignorance of social and global entrepreneurship and unexpected issues, including legal issues of trademarks and copyrights.
  5. All of this causes negative results, wastage of resources and high health care costs, so the needs assessment study identified the importance of developing the experience of health care staff during the consequences of health disasters in conducting this activity.
    • This includes identifying unmet needs or gaps in the healthcare sector, developing a new idea that addresses those needs, and taking the necessary actions to turn the idea into reality. Healthcare entrepreneurs are known for taking calculated risks, embracing new technologies, and creating effective solutions for patients, providers, and payers.
